POSITIVE COMMUNITIES

UPC works with local communities to provide programs with the determination to improve the living standards of the communities.

HOUSE RENOVATION PROGRAM

Lainungan Village & Mattirotasi Village Sidrap, South Sulawesi, Indonesia
June 2017 to Present

A collaborative program by UPC and the Sidrap Public Housing Agency to improve houses in local communities. 32 houses are to be renovated, consisting of 15 from the Mattirotasi Village and 17 from the Lainungan Village. The House Renovation Program will be implemented by using a community-based concept and includes local community labour to improve housing.

PROVISION OF CLEAN WATER

Together with the Sidrap regency programs, UPC provides the infrastructure to access to clean water by drilling wells in local communities. The water distribution system will utilize the existing pipeline system. This program is planned to be integrated with existing government programs including the “100-0-100” program and PAMSIMAS program. This project is expected to help accelerate the fulfilment of the government’s target to provide 100% of clean water for people in Mattirotasi Village and Lainungan Village.

CLEFT LIP SURGERY PROGRAM

Sindenreng Rappang Regency South Sulawesi, Indonesia 2016

UPC supports the Free Operation for Cleft Lip and Palate by collaborating with The Fhezer Komsa (TFZK). TFZK is an organization dedicated to helping children and adults with cleft lip. 33 people have been helped by this program, and all patients were infants and children in South Sulawesi. the largest percentage of patients came Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap).

CLEAN WATER FACILITIES PROGRAM

Mattirotasi Village Sidrap, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

UPC is committed in providing the Pabbaresseng community with improved water quality by installing a filtration system / traditional filtration on pipelines and tanks in the spring location of Pabbaresseng.

UPC is working to help the Tonrongnge community by providing water tanks for collecting water from the mountain spring. The goal of this program is to provide better facilities for the Tonrongnge community to retrieve water, especially during the dry season.

OWL HOUSE PROGRAM

Sidrap, South Sulawesi, Indonesia 2016

The Owl House Program of UPC is in collaboration with the Food Crops Study Program from the State Agricultural Polytechnic of Sidrap. The program is carried out by a team of student members from Sidrap’s Education Outside the Domicile (PDD) Program. UPC-SBE supports this program in terms of funding while the Sidrap PDD student teams conducts the planning, preparation, and execution. The program is to provide owl houses in 20 paddy fields locations, with the goal of protecting rice fields from rodents. The establishments are located in different areas in Sidrap, including in Mattirotasi and Lainungan villages.

ENGLISH PROGRAM FOR LOCALS

Lainungan Village & Mattirotasi Village
2016 to Present

UPC provides English language courses for the local communities. The focus of the program is to empower the local community with English language skills for every conversation. This program also provides knowledge of wind farm projects to the community. This program is organized in community in Mattirotasi and Lainungan village. It started on April 2016 and continues to date and has received positive reception from the community.
